ABOUT THE PUBLISHER

Doug Walker, Bowhunters Hall of Famer and World Class bowhunter, has always believed there is more involved in the spirit of bowhunting than just bowhunting. All through his fifty-two years as a successful bowhunter he has carried that thought, and that is why his unselfish and time-consuming involvement with the entire sport of bowhunting shines through.

That spirit was nationally recognized over three decades ago, March of 1961, when Fred Bear and Doug were honored and accepted to become two of the very first regular members of the Pope & Young Club.

With its founder Glenn St. Charles and just a handful of fellow bowhunters they pioneered the early days of the Pope & Young Club. Doug was one of that club's first elected members of the board of directors and was later elected as the Big Game Chairman of the Pope & Young Club.

In February 2001 Doug joined three bowhunting greats — Fred Bear, Howard Hill, and Glenn St. Charles when his name was added to NFAA Grand Master Society. It was after this, May of 2001, and after 53 years of dedication to the sport that he was presented with the Bowhunting Lifetime Achievement Award.

In his book "Autobiography of a Bowhunter," Doug has picked some of his favorite hunting stories that include some hunts and special time with Fred Bear and Howard Hill.
